BIOGRAPHY

Angela has been working professionally since she was 13 years old and got her first serious break aged 16 in CORONATION STREET, where she won the National Television Award for Best Newcomer.

 

She has starred in numerous successful British shows since

including HOLBY CITY, CUTTING IT, WATERLOO ROAD, LEWIS, BRIEF ENCOUNTERS, ORDINARY LIES. 

 

She played Detective Stevie Hall, the lead in Canadian cop drama THE DETAIL, Astrid, an American manager alongside Idris Elba in TURN UP CHARLIE for NETFLIX and journalist Lisa Cranston alongside Rob Lowe in ITV’s WILD BILL. 

 

Most recently Angela could be seen in HARLOTS for HULU, WHITE LINES for NETFLIX, CRIME for BRITBOX and horror flick CHOOSE or DIE for NETFLIX


A highlight over the past few years was playing TORI in CHANNEL 4’s HELP written by JACK THORNE for CHANNEL 4 which went on to win a host of awards from the Rose D’or through to BAFTA’s

 

As well as her NTA award Angela also won best actress twice at the EMMA Awards and collected the Best Actress award in 2017 at the Black Magic awards.

Angela

Angela has worked a lot in factual entertainment where she

presented her own chat show ANGELA & FRIENDS for 146 live

episodes, travelled with the ambulance service for EMERGENCY with ANGELA GRIFFIN and presented live from the red carpet at both the GOLDEN GLOBES and THE ACADEMY AWARDS. In 2018 she stepped onto the red sofa to co-present on BBC flagship show THE ONE SHOW.

 

Her theatre credits include ONE MAN TWO GUVNORS,

BREEDERS, STEPPING OUT (where Angela had to learn to tap

from scratch) Dryden’s THE CAPTIVE QUEEN at THE GLOBE, BUILDING THE WALL a two hander at the Park Theatre and most recently THE TYLER SISTERS at HAMPSTEAD THEATRE

 

The final and newest string to Angela’s bow is as a broadcaster on BBC RADIO 2 with her own show, UNWIND WITH ANGELA GRIFFIN airing in 2021 and newly commissioned for 2022 and as a regular stand in for Steve Wright on SUNDAY LOVE SONGS.

PERSONAL LIFE

Angela has run two half marathons, in aid of TOMMY’S a premature baby charity and the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION. In her spare time, she loves to run, cook, and read. Through her love of baking, she entered CELEBRITY BRITISH BAKE OFF for Sport Relief. Tennis has also become a new love in Angela’s life, and she regularly plays at her local club both socially and competitively. During lockdown Angela also embarked on an OPEN UNIVERSITY degree course in PSYCHOLOGY. She also loves to travel with her family visiting many places in the UK and Europe, next on the list for the family is Thailand….. if they can find the time.

Angela lives in North London with her husband, two daughters and her Cava-poo Smith. She grew up in Leeds with her parents and two brothers, none of whom are connected to the television industry, she became passionate about acting aged 5 when a family friend took her to a drama workshop. Performing twice a year with her children’s theatre group she got the bug and took on an agent aged 11, children’s television beckoned when she was 13 and the rest is history.
